Clothing and Accessories
I don't know about you but I get a little tired of the clothing options in big box stores for my kid.  Shopping small business helps me find great clothing that is just as unique as my daughter AND it just feels better.  Don't get me wrong...we shop at Target and Old Navy.  But sometimes I pause and wonder how the clothing was made, what were the working conditions for the workers, and were they even paid a fair wage... When I pick up a handmade outfit, different thoughts come to mind.  I think about the creativity and energy of the person who designed and made the outfit.  I think about how much love he/she pours into the business and it makes me smileNow.  That.  Yeah...that's something I like to support.  Anyhow, I'd thought I'd share a few of my old favorite clothing and accessories shops and a few that I discovered more recently.

"The Measure: for wandering and for coming home."  The first time I set eyes on this shop, I fell in love.  There is something about her clothing that I just love.  Maybe its the eclectic mix of fabrics, maybe its the way she captures a childhood that is adventurous and full of spirit.  Anyhow, this dress runs about $64.00 and is made to order so make sure you allow at least 5 weeks.  You should also check out http://themeasuredesigns.bigcartel.com/ for the AMAZING fierce tees.  It has the quote, "And though she be but little she is fierce," from A Midsummer's Night Dream by Shakespeare.  Aria has one and just about everybody who has ever seen it loves it just as much as we do.  Also follow The Measure on Facebook for sneak peeks, sales, and opportunities to win coupons.
Designed and printed by Mary Cobb of Green Goat, these shirts are sure to be a hit with your children.  I first heard of Green Goat because of her doll clothing, which are simply amazing but very difficult to get as they sell out quickly.  However, you can get your hands on her lovely designs by buying a kids shirt.  Oh and she prints adult shirts too if you are coveting a particular design. The shirts range in price from $18.00-24.00.  Follow her on Facebook for updates on her shop.
This shop is full of the coolest bow ties and ties!  $18.00 gets you the the bowtie of your choice.  But seriously, how can you pick just one?!  There are several designs that I love.  Aria would love these elephants. Follow her page on Facebook for a heads up when new items are added.
This sweet little fox headband is a part of the Bohemian line and is only $24.00.  You should definitely check out her other hair accessories.  The gold leaf and flower halo headband is so beautiful that I had a hard time picking between it and this adorable fox headband.  Follow her on Facebook for sneak peeks and updates.
This sweet giraffe t-shirt is only $20.00.  Designed and printed by local Portland business Westmama. She makes shirts in a variety of sizes so get a shirt for everybody in the family!  Follow her on Facebook for updates.
This felt flower crown is $58.00 and is sure to look sweet adorning your child's head.  Follow Pretty Little Things by Lorie Marie on Facebook for beautiful photos that will tempt you to clean out her store.  Personally, I love the daisy chains!
This colorful hat is handmade by Breezybot from 100% cotton.  Around here, we LOVE us some rainbows and this hat fits the bill.  For only $24.00 you can bring a little color into your life during the cold season. Follow her on Facebook for updates and sneak peeks.
Tree Town Batiks make the BEST batik shirts.  Aria had a pirate skull one that we picked up many years ago.  This reminds me that I need to get her a new Tree Town Batik pirate shirt.  This space shuttle shirt is $24.50 and I think its fabulous.  Check out their webpage for more fabulous shirts.
One hoothat costs only $30.00.  Aria has her very own hoothat and I have to say its not only extremely well made but super cute to boot.  She offers a TON of colors so check out her store to pick out the perfect hoothat for the children in your life.  Follow freckletree on Facebook for updates and amazing photos of her adorable hoothats.
Little Goodall is on vacation until Oct.15, but be sure to take a look at her shop when it reopens in a few days.  The coats are beyond AMAZING!  My favorite is the fox coat but Little Goodall also makes lions, owls, and dinosaurs.  I wish she made these coats in my size.  I'd totally wear an orange fox coat.  Follow her on Facebook.
Phew.  Weren't those stores fabulous!  If you like any of them on Facebook, let them know that Tansy Dolls sent you!  Don't forget to enter the Gift Guide Giveaway.  Click here to enter.

Have you been visiting our page on Tuesdays?  If not, you'll want to check it out this Tuesday at 9am (pst).  Every Tuesday is Tansy Dolls Tuesday, in which we offer a great deal, either a giveaway or discount.  THIS Tuesday we'll be auctioning our doll "Amelia" with 100% of the proceeds benefiting 'Art ala Carte' one of our favorite local mom-run businesses in Portland. She is trying to raise the funds to help her move her store since the current location has been sold.  Don't miss out.  Also, if you'd like to donate directly to Art ala Carte you can find her indiegogo page at http://www.indiegogo.com/helpaacrelocate.

~Cheers!~
Robin
